Why he's below Bob McAdoo: Like McAdoo, he put up big numbers on teams that weren't very good early in his career and ended his career contributing to a championship team. Archibald doesn't have the MVP that McAdoo does though and only played on 1 Finals team compared to McAdoo's 4.

Why he's above the rest: He's the only player in NBA history to lead the league in points and assists in the same season. His five 1st or 2nd-Team All-NBA selections are more than anyone except 1 player ranked below him (Hal Greer), and the only players with more than Archibald's three 1st-Team selections who aren't ranked above Archibald are players from the 50s. Though his prime was cut short by injuries, when he was young and healthy, he was one of the best players in the league every year. In the second phase of his career, he was the starting point guard on a championship team with the Celtics. It's not hard to imagine that Archibald would have grown into a leader and a winner on his own team if injuries hadn't prevented it.
