Why he's below Anthony Davis: McAdoo, though he had a great run at the beginning of his career, never had much postseason success. And as an undersized center, he was never a very good defender. The first half of his career looked like the type of player that scored a lot but didn't add much else, and if you haven't noticed, I don't reward that type of player with a good ranking.

Why he's above the rest: For a 3 year period, McAdoo competed with prime Kareem and actually got the better of him in 1974-75, winning MVP and making 1st Team All-NBA over Kareem. He finished 2nd in MVP voting in both 1974 and 1976. McAdoo was an undersized center who would have been 1st Team All-NBA at least 3 times if he'd played forward and probably more all star appearances as well. He was 1 of only 4 players to score at least 30 PPG and lead the league in scoring 3 consecutive times. He bounced around teams at the end of his career but ended up backing up Kareem with the Lakers and contributing to a Finals run in all 4 seasons.
