Why he's below Reggie Miller: Moncrief had possibly the shortest prime of anyone on my list. He really only had 6 good healthy years and only 5 great ones. His teams were competitive in the tough 80s East, but he never did get to the Finals.

Why he's above the rest: Moncrief is the only guard to win Defensive Player of the Year multiple times. He won the award the first two years it existed and possibly had an even better defensive season the year prior. He was an above-average shooter as well; he's currently #38 in career true shooting percentage. Over a 5 year span from 1981-82 to 1985-86, Moncrief averaged 21 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists, made 1st Team All-Defense 4 times and won Defensive Player of the year 2 times. An injury the next season derailed his career and prevented him from placing even higher on the list. Most people don't rank him this high, but the multiple DPOYs and title of best defensive guard of the 80s are good enough for me.
