Why he's #1: No player has ever dominated both sides of the ball like Michael Jordan. He not only holds the record for most times leading the league in scoring (10); he is also tied for most times named to 1st team All-Defense (9). He’s one of only three players to win both MVP and Defensive Player of the Year in the same season. In 11 full seasons with the Bulls, Jordan led the league in scoring 10 times and won the championship and Finals MVP 6 times. No one else in NBA history has spread such a high peak over such a long period of time. Very few have even been close. And that's why he's my #1.
