Why he's below Dennis Rodman: If you've been paying attention, you've noticed that I don't value volume scorers who don't provide much else to their teams. Wilkins was one of the best of that group, but that's still all he really was. His shooting was below average; his defense was bad; he never averaged 4 APG in a season; and his teams never got to the Finals. I want to apologize to the person I was arguing with, insisting that Wilkins should be ranked higher than Tiny Archibald. He's actually 10 spots lower.

Why he's above the rest: Wilkins averaged over 25 PPG in 10 consecutive seasons and led the Hawks to the playoffs most of those years despite never playing with All-NBA teammates. His shooting percentages can be forgiven somewhat because the quality of his teammates forced him into taking more shots. Voters recognized how much he was carrying his teams, giving him 5 top-8 finishes in MVP voting. He gets bonus points for being arguably the best dunker in NBA history. His dunks could ignite a crowd and turn momentum in his team's favor and certainly played a part in the team success he had as well as helping him be the 14th leading scorer in NBA history.
