Why he's below Jerry Lucas: Pierce didn't have any elite skills like Lucas did. As a result, he never made a 1st Team All-NBA appearance and never finished higher than 7th in MVP voting.


Why he's above the rest: Paul Pierce is on my list and other good wings of the 00s aren't partly because Pierce had a better all-around game and partly because he had more postseason success. Pierce was a better shooter, defender, and postseason performer than Carmelo Anthony or Vince Carter. He was a better shooter and postseason performer and had a much longer prime than Tracy McGrady. If you want to take McGrady because he had a better 5 year peak than Pierce did, fine (though their peaks are a lot closer than you probably think). But if you're taking an entire career, I think Pierce is the pretty clear choice from this group of players.
