Why he's below Moses Malone: Longevity. Malone played 570 more games than Durant has at this point. Durant has better averages and percentages and should pass Malone if he doesn't retire suddenly, but for Malone's career totals and awards keep him ahead of Durant.
Why he's above the rest: Durant is arguably the best all-around efficient scorer in an era of efficient scoring. He was one of only three players to average 20 PPG as a teenager and has averaged over 25 PPG every year since. His 12 consecutive years with at least 25 PPG is second only to LeBron. He’s one of only four players to win a scoring title 4 times in 5 seasons. Durant’s joining the Warriors left a bad taste in a lot of people’s mouths, but I can’t overlook the fact that he joined a team that had just won 73 games and became their best player, winning Finals MVP both times he was healthy for the Finals. He’s at least top-15 and with a few more healthy seasons could finish in the top 10. (Plus he gets bonus points for being the last Supersonics star.)
